Hello!
Lets start with the good news: This past weekend saw the US contingent of Extinction Rebellion kick-off their direct action campaigns in cities across the country. In NYC dozens of activists shut down the Roosevelt Center and chapters across the country marched through the streets to let the world know that they don’t plan on letting society fall to climate change and the fossil fuel industry’s greed without a fight.
In the less-than-good news: The US has decided to execute a coup against the Venezuelan government. So far it remains unsuccessful but the coup planners have the assistance of CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, NBC, CBS, NPR, ABC, BBC, PBS, CBC, & even pro-war shills like Bill Maher.
Venezuela has the world’s largest proven oil reserves and one of the world’s most successful Left-populist governments. They are a prime target for “Humanitarian Intervention” from Western powers.
In the Ledger this week we are showing you some great work from radical journalists along with all of my usual shows for you to enjoy right in your inbox. Please send this Ledger to friends!

Every once in a while, one of those stories comes along that makes the mainstream corporate media look like a bunch of middle-school kids filming their “news show” on an iPhone with their neck ties crooked. Recently, one of those stories splashed down into the middle of our cultural zeitgeist like a small meteor landing in the middle of an elite dinner party.
It made our mass media pundits look like hardened fools. But they have kept spouting their nonsense anyway, hoping no one notices the soup dripping down their faces.
This week on my podcast Common Censored:
The US government is moving forward with a coup in Venezuela. Here's the basic gist on what you need to know and where we could go and should go from here.
The LA Teacher's Strike is over - here's what, and why, they won. Plus Denver and others look to follow suit.
The FBI is spying on your social media accounts
Amazon sucks for a whole host of reasons. Here's one more very serious one.
A workplace ploy execs exploit to get you to work harder for less.

Mr. Fish is a political cartoonist who made a career out of skewering the political elite and US society in general. He came on VIP and we discussed the new documentary coming out about his life and career - "Mr. Fish: Cartooning from the Deep End."

This week I trashed NATO’s history of projecting Western power through military intervention while pretending to care about Democracy and Human Rights. I also covered the action in Venezuela, and announced some sad news about the monarch butterfly.
Watch the episode below for that and more from the Redacted Team.

Some Early Lessons From the Los Angeles Teachers Strike
Black Agenda Report | Bruce A. Dickson
Corporate media absolutely won’t tell you this, but this year’s Los Angeles teachers strike is the latest chapter in the long running struggle against the privatization of public education in the US. With massive public support, 30,000 teachers have voted foe a settlement that increases their wages a little, brings back nurses, librarians and counselors to each and every one of the city’s 900 schools, caps class sizes and charter school expansion and more.
Everything You Need to Know About General Strikes
Teen Vogue | Kim Kelly
The word strike seems to be on everyone’s lips these days. Workers across the world have been striking to protest poor working conditions, to speak out against sexual harassment, and to jumpstart stalled union negotiations. And as we just saw with the Los Angeles teachers’ successful large-scale strike, which spanned six school days, strikers have been winning. Despite the shot of energy that organized strikes have injected into the labor movement, many people aren’t content with run-of-the-mill work stoppages, or even with more militant wildcat strikes.
Yellow Vest Leader Badly Hit in Eye by Police Rubber Bullet To Be 'Disabled for Life'
TeleSur English | Staff
The rubber bullets — which are not used in most European countries — have become deeply controversial in France since the protests began in November, blamed for hundreds of serious injuries.
A prominent French anti-government “yellow vest” activist, was badly injured in the eye at a protest Saturday after he was struck with one of the controversial rubber bullets used by French police, his lawyer said Sunday.
Reader-Submitted
This week from Reader-Submitted we are highlighting the submission of F. Schoepke.
He discussed the external costs of owning a personal vehicle. Cars give everyone the independence to travel further in a day than they could’ve done in several months hundreds of years ago. Unfortunately that power also comes with the ability to consume more oil and destroy more healthy ecosystems than they could’ve previously done in a lifetime.

I released “Super Patriotic Very Uncle Sam Comedy Special Not Allowed On American TV” a few months ago.
The comedy special has received a lot of great reviews from independent journalists, and I hope you’ll check it out as well.
“It is a clear minded and boldly spoken social critique, and it is stand up at its finest. It reminds me of something from George Carlin or Bill Hicks… It is a wake up call. It is a call to the citizens of the world to unite. It is a call to action, spoken in no uncertain terms.”
