T. Violett, Let Your Kid Take You For A Hike
I look forward to alone time with my daughter, like last Saturday. My wife was working so we started off our day at the local breakfast spot in town. As we finished up I asked her what she was working on at school. She goes to an alternative school and as a 7th grader is part of a middle school they call “Outdoor School”. This means they spend 12 hours a week outdoors immersed in nature, studying it hands-on and writing about their experiences. She told me they were reading a novel called “Want”. It was the story of a society that was split into two groups; “mei” and “you”. The “you” had special suits that protected them from the toxic environment. The “mei” couldn’t afford them so they lived short, miserable lives. Of course the parallels were obvious but I didn’t comment. I still felt the need to protect her from our realities. We then drove down the road a bit to a path I had noticed a few days prior. It was apparent the path used to be railroad tracks. She excitedly searched for evidence of its former existence and the ways in which nature had taken over while I did my best to stay interested. After hours of her lost in exploration I told her it was time to head back. Coming up on the car she said to me over her shoulder “We have to enjoy this while we still can.” I was stunned. I spend part of my activist time on XR. I march, chant, organize. I thought I had a good understanding of how we’re running out of time. I was wrong. Let your kid take you for a hike and explain it to you.
T. Salkin, How to Resolve the Bulk of Humanities’ Woes
Take 90% of the wealth away from those that own 90% of everything and MAKE SURE that it is used to encourage HARMONY within humankind and environmental needs.
E. Flame, What If
What if humans weren't meant to live such disconnected lives? What if humans were actually meant to live in vibrant flourishing and caring communities? What if humans were meant to take care of each other and love one another?
What if humans were meant to take care of the planet? What if humans were actually meant to cultivate gardens all over the earth, so that everywhere there was always enough for everyone?
What if humans weren't meant to spend all their time slaving away at tedious jobs they hate? What if instead they were meant to love their lives and their occupations?
What if the world was meant to be a place full of peace and love and happiness, where people were always content?
