I wrote this article a year ago because US military adventures follow a pattern - if you don’t let the US exploit your resources, prepare to be attacked by the most powerful military on the planet — on TruthDig
Hello and thanks for coming back to The Ledger!
Something really strange happened last week. The US accused Iran of having attacked two tankers. They obviously didn’t have evidence but that isn’t the strange part. The mainstream media never asks them for evidence to back up their war propaganda.
The strange part was that the story was WIDELY derided as a false flag. Mike Pompeo gave corporate journalists their marching orders, the journalists wrote their stories, and most of us apparently agreed that it was some dumb war hawkery.
The threat to Iran certainly isn’t gone. Just like the threats to Venezuela, North Korea, and anyone who suddenly decides not to give all of their wealth to international capitalists.
But it was nice to see people pushing back against Mike Pompeo’s march to war and we hope that our community can play a part in encouraging popular skepticism of war propaganda.

I Know Which Country the U.S. Will Invade Next
(This is my column from a year ago, but it’s more important now than ever.)
By the end of this column, it will be clear which country the United States will invade and topple next. Or failing that, it will be clear which country our military-intelligence-industrial complex will be aching to invade next.
We all want to know why America does what it does. And I don’t mean why Americans do what we do. I think that question still will be pondered eons from now by a future professor showing his students a video mind-meld of present-day UFC fighters booting each other in the head while thrilled onlookers cheer (not for either of the fighters but rather for more booting in the head).
This week on my podcast Common Censored:
Here's what bed bugs in Congress have to do with trying to start a war with Iran.
Can we work with folks across the political spectrum in order to unify, fight and build? The question is rather: how?
Two cases show how governments across the world are targeting people who fight for human rights and justice. There is, however, a silver lining.

Even Japan, Germany, and EU are doubting Trump admin’s claim Iran attacked ships
The Grayzone | Ben Norton
While the Trump administration accuses Iran without evidence of attacking oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman, Japanese, German, and EU officials are skeptical, saying there is no “definite proof.”
Bernie Sanders Campaign Manager Faiz Shakir on Skewed Polls, Corporate Media Conflicts
Status Coup | Jordan Chariton
In 2016, Bernie Sanders’ campaign was akin to a start-up: scrappy, understaffed, and flying by the seat of their pants.
The only difference: most start-ups don’t spark a nationwide movement in just a few months; a movement met with as much negative pushback—from the corporate media and the entire federal, state, and local Democratic Party establishment—than otherworldly love and adoration from millions of believers across the country.
